  • Living after HMS Raleigh/joining the RN
by (Asasioun) on June 24, 2018 at 10:51 pm

I have put this through the search bar, but didn't find anything. After going through HMS Raleigh and then signing on, where do people live and whats the cost? The RN website mentions subsidised accommodation, but nothing further, so I assume that there is halls like places to live? Also, would anyone have any ideas as to the cost? Or is it normal to find private housing? I'm looking at going in as either a chef or an engineering technician (Fleet) if that makes any difference. I...Living after HMS Raleigh/joining the RN […]

  • Tomatoes Allergy
by (Lord Thotslayer) on June 24, 2018 at 7:04 pm

Hi, I did a quick serch and could not find a similar thread so I thought I would ask. I recently applied to join the Navy, RAF and Army. After appying for the Army I had to tick a box saying I had a food allergy to tomatoes (very mild I add) and after going through the appeal I ended up getting rejected. My question is will the navy see this and also reject me or will they let me in. It only really effects me if I eat a raw one, and all that happense is my mouth itches. I have never been to...Tomatoes Allergy […]

  • Does a clinical diagnosis of autism disqualify you?
by (Eridanus) on June 24, 2018 at 4:55 pm

Hi. I'm in my thirties and have just had a diagnosis of higher functioning autism. I had planned to apply to the RNR later this year (getting over an injury and need time to get fitness up again). Questions: do I have to tell anyone when I apply? If I tell them, does this automatically eliminate me? You might be thinking no chance, it'll be obvious. But, despite this diagnosis I, and most of those who know me, are of the view that day to day, you'd never notice I was anything different...Does a clinical diagnosis of autism disqualify you? […]

  • Costs and Life in the Navy
    by (westy412) on June 24, 2018 at 4:43 pm

I am thinking of joining the RN as a weapons engineer through the accelerated apprenticeship scheme and I have a few questions. First of all during training and after training what are the costs and deductions, apart from tax and national insurance. Also how often do you stop off at ports and what type of places. Finally how much holiday do you get, including leave. Thanks. […]
